Maidstone River Festival

One of the highlights of the EFCC calendar is the Maidstone River Festival which is held annually at the end of July.  Its a great day out whether you are bringing your boat or not as there is so much to see and do.  Three of the main highlights of the day are the Best Dressed Boat competition, the Raft Race and in the evening there is a wonderful Illuminated Boat Parade which culminates with a magnificent fireworks display which rounds off the days events.  Oh, of course, EFCC just loves to participate in all these events and we are normally very good at it and, over the years have won many of the Awards.

Work usually starts weeks before the event and members go to great lengths to decorate their boats or built rafts.  Some members even take the week off and incorporate the Festival into their annual holiday.  You can always rely on EFCC members to always entertain and delight the crowds on festival day.

In the evening the event really takes off and comes alive when darkness fall and all the boats turn on their lights.  Its a truly wonderful sight to see.  Parties abound, music, BBQs - anything goes!  A day never to be forgotton.

The theme for the 2006 Maidstone River Festival is "Wind in the Willows".  Boatowners are challenged to decorate their craft with tales from the riverbank - why not come and lend a hand and get involved.  Decorate your boat and come and join the fun!  It's a day you won't forget.
